We Care We Love

Introduction

Starting Semester I, Session 2025/26, the Mathematics Support Centre (MSC) plans to revive the We Care We Love (WCWL) program. This two-way dedicated program involves lecturers and students. The program’s content is specifically tailored by lecturers to selected students who are struggling to understand certain lessons in any Mathematics course they are currently enrolled in at the Foundation, Undergraduate: Diploma, or Degree level, particularly in the Foundation and Basic Mathematics concepts.

Concept and Phases

This program will introduce a novel and innovative approach that comprises three distinct phases, collectively referred to as A.I.M. The first phase, A – Assess, the lecturer needs to assess the seriousness of mathematical problems for each student. Carry mark is determined by the marks shown at Mid-BOE and the target grade is agreed upon consultation between the lecturer and the student. The second phase, I – Improve, given the students’ challenges, the lecturer should curate any activities they believe could help overcome them. Lastly, the third phase, M – Monitor, serves as a crucial component to ensure the effectiveness of the interventions. It provides continuous feedback loops, allowing for ongoing evaluation and refinement of the program’s approach.
